hopefully they reach a deal, i like where they are heading for the future and he can steal games for them, and they are only getting better, my opinion he is the face of that franchise at the moment, but best of luck for em in the east |

If I'm Keka I would be more concerned about that offer from the khl team and how it will affect Bob's asking price, money can change a man even if he does say he wants to play in the nhl. |

i agree. dont believe anything he says. you should be worried both regarding the money and the commitment |

I'm not really worried at this point. I am confident that management will do what is necessary to keep him. Unless SKA offers an amount that Columbus can't come close to then Bob will be back. I didn't get the sense from Chesnokov's article that while the money might be good it isn't to the level that Columbus would have no chance to match. The Jackets realize they can't screw this up and they won't. |

I wouldn't believe any rumors that come from Russia...they make up too much stuff like the rumor Datsyuk already had a contract with a Russian team to play there next season even though he still has another year on his contract with the Wings that came out today or yesterday. Most of what is reported from Russia is complete bull. |

I wouldn't be surprised if there was some truth to this if just from a negotiating standpoint. It gives Bob more leverage. |

I wouldn't doubt the KHL is trying to get Datsyuk and Bob, among other Russian stars to return home to play. That being said, after all of the problems the two leagues ahd and then finally negotiating a transfer agreement, I really doubt Datsyuk is playing anywhere other than in Detroit next year. Might he finish his playing career in the KHL? That's quite possible but next year he will be a Wing.
I don't doubt the interest from the KHL but like you said; some of the reports describing mutual interest from the players is probably overblown by Russian media. And I am sure the KHL is fine with that since it creates buzz about their league and it supports the position that they are a credible alternative to the NHL. Even if the players don't leave the NHL the KHL looks better if it appears that many Russian born players are legitimately considering playing in that league. |

On the Datsyuk situation it has been reported on Hockey Night in Canada crew that the Wings and Datsyuk are close to a long term extention to remain in Detroit. I personally believe Pavel will play at least three more years before returning home. I remember Lidstrom talking about going home about 10 years before he actually retired and he never left. The Wings are a classy organization and will do whatever it takes to keep Pavel in the fold. |

I guess nobody cares or are gone for the summer????
I do not think Bob will go back to Russia despite the fact he would be number one for SKA and playing before family and friends. My grandson recently played in UFA and was there for 10 days. He said it was just awful cold and the food was gross. We got everything in Canada and the US, best place on earth. |

Really off topic, but do you guys think that Columbus would be willing to trade two of their first round picks (14th & 19th) to the Oilers for their first round pick (2013, 7th overall) Ales Hemsky and a conditional 2nd round or 3rd round in 2013?
What do you guys think? |

Don't like Hemsky, but if Monahan or Lindholm are available at #7 I could live with him for a season. Would much prefer to move up a little higher though. Think the Jackets are an elite center away from being an annual threat. |

I dont think Mctavish will be making deals for a rebuild but rather trying to acquire guys such Dubinsky or Bozak who can fill in the much needed third line role that Cloutier has been ranting about .

Well we don't want Bozak. We dont want Horcoff on the team either and apparently he will be bought out this season and traded away. He costs 5.5M and for what he does it's really an overpayment. So acquiring Bozak would be a bad move. He's exactly like Horcoff, only a few years younger. And yes, in press conferences he's definatly said that he's going to clean the house this summer. So being an Oiler fan I'm pretty happy about that haha. |

Agreed. You're team has plenty of young players. Having said that, if this trade does happen, either Monahan or Lindholm would really thrive on the blue jackets.
However this trade is highly unlikely. Just exploring options. |
